Building A Family Legacy Since 1957
Custom Metal Industries is a 4th generation family business based out of Greenfield Indiana, USA. Specializing in the manufacture of painted and unpainted steel panels and trim, they were the first company in Indiana to rollform steel building panels, and one of the first companies to provide custom cut steel for construction application in the United States. Their first rollforming machine was a Bradbury machine, purchased around 1960. In fact, it was also one of the first Bradbury Rollformers ever made. Now, Custom Metal Industries have three Hayes Rollformers, all manufactured and built in New Zealand, working hard to deliver metal roofing, siding, linear panels, and trim for hundreds of commercial and residential customers — all with a 24–48-hour lead time.
Four Generations, Moving Forward Together
Being a 4th generation business, the President of Custom Metal Industries, Skylar Edwards, is dedicated to building on his grandfather’s legacy, and asserts that the partnership with the team at Hayes is linked closely to Custom Metal’s ongoing success. Based in New Zealand, Technical Head of Sales at Hayes International, Craig Bedford helped to support the building of Skylar’s first, second, and third Hayes machine and worked closely with Skylar to get the specifications they needed. Further strengthening the relationship is the full coverage and service support provided in the USA, by Hayes International owners, The Bradbury Group. Custom Metal Industries is one of over 200 customers in the USA, many of whom have multiple machines.
Machinery And Relationships That Last Generations
Skylar and the team are deeply committed to delivering quality products and an excellent level of service. Hayes and Custom Metal have grown successful together over many years and together modernized Rollforming. Justin Pettet, Production Manager at Custom Metal Industries, agrees that it’s the relationships that keep them rolling. He appreciates that if there is ever a problem, it is resolved quickly, either with a phone call or by sending out an on-site engineer. He says;
“What I like best about Hayes machines is their customer support. They’re extremely reliable."
